Born May 28, 1897 in Tokyo, Uematsu Wafū (Uematsu Mishō) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Mizuno Rodō and Satō Seibi. He was a member of the Kanagawa branch of the Bifū-kai and was a shakuhachi teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
