Haruko Watanabe was a Grand Master of Seiha Hogaku Kai, Ikuta School and was active in a wide range of music performance beyond the Japanese music genre. From 1989 she performed extensively throughout Japan, China, and Australia. She was the director of koto ensemble "Aya no Kai" and head of "Ensemble Nipponia," Ehime-Branch. In 2000 and 2003 Haruko performed with the German Henschel Quartet.
